How to Stay in Church Despite the Christians
THEY
Always
Know:
What is Right.
What is God's Will.
What you should or should not do.
And, of course,
Their knowledge never applies to themselves,
Only to you,
And I,
And anyone who doesn't fit
Their
Christianity.
Each time you weep over
Their pious insensibilities,
Each time you are outraged by
Their righteous indignation
Over things like black shoes shined perfectly
And why on earth SHE never goes to a beauty shop,
Each time they quote Scripture
Or Tradition
Or Catechism paragraph number,
But fail to recognize their own failings in their
Comfortable Gospeless lives,
Each time you are tempted to
Walk
Out the door and never
Ever
Look
Back,
Remember:
"Jesus wept".
