Cave Dreams
Cloud reading is an art
That those of us privileged
With outdoor banishment
Develop at an early age.
We sense the shades of the clouds
Before we even know for sure
What damage they will bring,
Or,
Please God,
If they will let down gentle rains.
Those clouds look too dark
To be friendly,
May the rocks yield us shelter tonight,
Allowing the rains their full fury
On parched dust.
